Link in bio, explained.

A link in bio is the one link on your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube profile that takes people to everything else you do. Here’s how it works, what to put in it and how to make yours free in a few minutes.

Free forever. No card needed.

Most social profiles give you room for one website link, usually in your bio. A link in bio is a small page that lives behind that one link and holds everything you want people to find: your latest release, your shop, your videos, your booking form and the rest of your socials.

Instead of swapping the link every time you post something new, you put one short address in your bio, like mylinksare.com/yourname, and keep the page behind it up to date. Everyone who taps it lands on the right thing.

Why creators and brands use one

  • One link to share everywhere. The same address works on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Threads, your email signature and a printed QR code.
  • Change it once. Add a new single or a sale and every profile that links to your page is up to date at the same moment.
  • See what works. Views, clicks and click rate show which links people actually tap, so you can put the best ones first.
  • Sell and grow. Link to your shop, take bookings and collect email sign-ups from the same page.
  • It looks like you. Colours, typefaces, buttons and cover art make the page feel like part of your brand, not a list of blue links.

How to make a link in bio in three steps

With MyLinksAre it takes a few minutes and it’s free.

  1. Claim your namePick the address people will see, like mylinksare.com/yourname. Use the handle you already use on social media.
  2. Add your links and blocksPaste your links, add your social icons and choose blocks for music, video, a shop, events or bookings. Pick a theme or start from an example you like.
  3. Put the link in your bioPublish, copy your link and paste it into the website field on each of your profiles.

What to put in your link in bio

Lead with the one thing that matters most right now, then everything people look for again and again.

  • Your newest thing first: a release, a launch, a sale or an event.
  • Where to follow you: social icons for the platforms you post on.
  • Ways to support you: your shop, tickets, bookings, tips or a fundraiser.
  • A way to stay in touch: an email or text sign-up, so you can reach people without an algorithm in the way.
  • How to reach you: a contact form or business email for press and brands.

Keep button labels short and specific. “Watch the new video” gets more taps than “YouTube”. Group longer pages with section titles so people can scan them.

How to add your link to your profiles

Copy your link from your dashboard, then open your profile settings on each platform. The wording moves around from time to time, but it’s usually under Edit profile.

Instagram

Go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links, and add your link as an external link.

TikTok

Tap Edit profile and paste your link into the Website field. If you don’t see it yet, TikTok may ask you to switch to a business account or reach a follower count first.

YouTube

In YouTube Studio, open Customization and add your link under Links.

X and Threads

Open Edit profile and paste your link into the Website or Links field.

Link in bio ideas for every kind of page

Browse real link in bio examples and open any of them to tap around. A few to start with:

  • Musicians: a new album, streaming links and tour dates, like Luna Vale.

  • Restaurants: a table booking, the menu and opening hours, like Kaveri Kitchen.

  • Coaches: a program countdown and one-to-one calls, like Dani Cruz.

  • Shops and makers: new products straight from the kiln, like Juniper & Clay.

  • Causes: a fundraiser, pets to adopt and volunteer sign-ups, like Hollow Oak Rescue.

  • Events: a countdown, the schedule and RSVPs, like Maya & Theo’s wedding.

  • It opens instantly. Most taps happen inside the Instagram, TikTok and YouTube browsers, often on a weak connection. Every second of waiting loses people.
  • It’s built for phones. Big tap targets, readable text and nothing to pinch or zoom.
  • It’s easy to trust. Your own name in the address, your photo and a clear layout, with no ads or pop-ups.
  • It works for everyone. Good contrast, real buttons and text that screen readers can read.

MyLinksAre is built around all four, and there are never ads on your page. Moving from another tool? See how to switch from Linktree in about a minute.
